35. Paint cross-section from the middle of the top edge of Fig.27. Four distinct changes in colour are visible: a layer with a series of shades of blue, a thin dark blue-green layer, a yellow-green and blue-green layer applied wet-in-wet, then a light green layer. This sample shows paint layers that are mostly associated with Wild vegetation. The light green layer is probably the first layer associated with Ravine. A light blue paint layer and ground layer are missing at the bottom of this sample, as well as shades of light green and a blue paint layer at the top. Synthetic ultramarine was used for the lower composition, cobalt blue for the upper. Lead white is concentrated in the lower painting, zinc white in the upper.
Attributed works:
36. Photomicrograph detail of Fig.27 showing graphite or charcoal associated with the underdrawing of Ravine caught up in the paint as it was applied over the drawing lines.
