Below (Right), Fig. 4: Quarter-Plan of Central Space and Transept with Plans at Three Levels Superimposed (St Paul's, 1, 14). 3. All Three Drawings Reproduced Here Are Approximately to the Same Scale as the Drawing Fig.A on the Opposite Page.

5. Elevation of the Greek Cross Design (All Souls, ii, 22). All Five Drawings on This Page Are to the Same Scale (Below). 6-9. Left, Fig.6: Design for a Domed Basilican Cathedral (All Souls, ii, 31). Above, Fig. 7: Design for a Dome (All Souls, ii, 25), Probably an Alternative to the Design on the Left; The Dome Plan on This Drawing Has no Relation to it but Belongs to the Design Represented in the Two Drawings below. Below (Left and Right), Figs.8 and 9: Two Sections Through a Design for a Domed Basilican Cathedral (All Souls; ii, 17 and 32).
Attributed works:
A. The Penultimate Design for St Paul's Cathedral, Reconstructed from the Drawings Reproduced in Figs.2 and 4. Left: Section through nave, choir or transept. Right: section Through Dome and Central Space. Drawing by Leonora Ison, 1960, Reproduced Approximately to Same Scale as Figs. 2, 3 and 4.
Attributed works:
B. Half-Plans of the Penultimate Design to Smaller Scale. Above: At Level of Oval Windows in Drum. Below: At Level of Windows in Diagonal Arches of Central Space.
Attributed works:
C. Diagrammatic Sections of Three Central-Space Projects, Showing the Transition from Warrant to Penultimate Designs. In the First Two Designs All Arches Are Integral with the Dome, Which Springs from the Same Base as the Arches. In the Penultimate Design the Diagonal Arches Are Lowered and Flattened and Windows Are Pierced in the Wall above. The Former Diagonal Arches Are Retained Only in Order to Form Pendentives Leading from the Octagonal to the Circular Plan-Levels. Note That in the First Two Projects the Dome is Presumed to Spring as a Hemisphere and to Change Radius above the Crowns of the Arches. This is Not Apparent in the Original Drawings but is Inferred from the Semi-Circular Form of the Entering Arches.
