[PORFIRIUS Kunstkammer. A collection of three generations of ornamental turners' work, all realised on the same rose engine turning lathe. The foreground box with the Tudor Rose on the cover, was made by the 'Tudor Court Turner', in the second helf of the 16th century. He was probably a German Turner who came to work for the Tudor Court on the German-built rose engine turning lathe. The large beaker and cover by the 'Inheritor of the Tudor Court Turner' was made around 1600. The small beaker and cup by the 'Second Inheritor of the Toudor Court Turner' dates from the first half of the 17th century. All objects are made in Lignum Vitae, a fine-grained type of palissander]
