S.W.1.] Pair of Wheel-Lock Pistols with walnut stocks mounted in burnished steel, claborately pierced with conventional foliage and flowers. The barrels are turned and octagonal over the brcech. The locks have the wheels on the exterior framed in chiselled steel; on the inside they are stamped with the maker's mark OB, surmounted by a coronel. On the reverse of the stocks are long suspension hooks. Italian (Brescian) about 1640-1650. From the Zeughaus, Berlin. WHEEL-LOCK PISTOL, the stock of dark walnut inlaid with flowering scrolls in silver and gold wire, and trophies, birds, etc., in mother-of-pearl. On the flat bult end is inlaid in gold and coral the arms of the Medici, surmounted by a coroncl. The burrel is of octagonal section; the wheel-lock is plain with the wheel on the exterior. Italian, about 1630. From the Erbach-Erbach Collection.

Franks, and in its brilliancy of colour and delicacy of detail is an unusually fine example of portraiture of the early XVIth Century.]
