Fig.70. This museum installation photo shows two canvases (left) by the French artist Daniel Buren (b. 1938). They belong to a group of eighteen paintings recently purchased by the museum, all variations on the stripe motif with which Buren has long been identified. The paintings range in date from 1965 to 1981 and can be shown dispersed about the gallery or as an ensemble. The canvas on the right of Fig.70 shows part of Alpha Sigma, 1961, by Morris Louis.
