[Sotheby's Parke Bernet, 34-35 New Bond Street, London, UK] Because they are too young for the London-Brighton veteran's Run, too small for the family man, and too old for the vintage sports car enthusiast, light Edwardians like this 1912 AX Type twin-cylinder Renault and the 1906 Rover on the left tend to be cheap and excellent value. The Rover sold for £6,200 and the Renault made £6,000 (just £1,000 more than a totally unrestored 1908 example which had been stored in a Yorkshire barn, and which was offered in the same sale at Donington in April this year).

[Sotheby's Parke Bernet, 34-35 New Bond Street, London, UK] For some reason Armstrong-Siddeleys are taking a long time to 'come in from the cold' and even the pre-war examples can be bought very cheaply. This example dates from 1948, at which time its lines were quite revolutionary, and it was purchased for £650 at Donington on 21st April.
Attributed works:
[Sotheby's Parke Bernet, 34-35 New Bond Street, London, UK] No small post-war sports car is more popular than the 'T' series M. G. and good examples can command up to £5,000 and even £6,000. This 'TF' had been laid up for several years when offered at Sotheby's Spring sale and was basically sound but in need of cosmetic treatment. At £2,800 it was fairly bid, but will reward its new owner handsomely in return for a little work.

[Sotheby's Parke Bernet, 34-35 New Bond Street, London, UK] The Morgan - still made to this day by the Morgan family in Malvern - is the sole survivor of the myriad makes of cyclecar which once flourished in this country. By 1936, when this F4 (Family Four) was made, the outside V-twin engine had been replaced by a four-cylinder 998 cc Ford, and in this form provided smooth and economical transport for the family man. This example is expected to bring £2,500 plus when offered at Sotheby's sale on the 27th August.
Attributed works:
[Sotheby's Parke Bernet, 34-35 New Bond Street, London, UK] This c. 1912 10/12-hp Belsize is a good example of the small Edwardian offered by this once-famous Manchester firm. It has the added advantage of a 'dickey' seat capable of accommodating two small adults or children and can, therefore, be used for family outings. It will be offered at Sotheby's next sale on the 27th August.

[Sotheby's, 34-35 New Bond Street, London, UK] £4,200 was the kind of figure one might expect for this well-restored 1920 Bean shown at Donington at the April 1979 sale. It was eclipsed, however, by the £4,700 realised by a totally unrestored and non-running 1924 Bullnosed Morris. The latter car was, however, totally original and had had only five years use up until 1929, when it was put into store.

Post-war classics averaged £800-£1,000, but earlier models frequently exceeded four figures and even the little child's pedal cycle in the front found a new owner at £70. Pedal cycles, particularly penny farthings, are now commanding up to (and in some cases, over) £1,000 and a penny farthing was sold for £720 at the April sale.
