The borders round the cover and base chased with flowers, leaves and scrolls in relief over granulated paths. By Gabriel-Raoul Morel. Paris, circa 1820. Length 8.1 cm ($3frac{3}{16}$ in). (front) Oval gold snuff-box chased with scrolling borders framing reserved areas enamelled en plein in the manner of Philippe Parpette with painted vases and bowls of flowers, fruit and, on the cover, a carafe and glass of red wine. The borders are further embellished with emerald-green basse-taille enamel over engraved fields. Each still-life painting is seen against an architectural background, the four round the walls of the box form a continuing enfilade. By Jean Moynat. Paris, 1758. Length 5.7 cm (2¼ in).
