This was one of the most popular designs used by specialist candlestick makers between 1740 and 1770. A George III coffee pot, 28 cm. high, London, 1765, sold on 15th February, for £1,650. Plain coffee pots of this type were made from the 1740s until 1780s with only slight variations in outline. A pair of George II table candlesticks, 20.3 cm. high by John Cafe, London, 1754, sold on 15th February for £1,200.
