[G. Malina inc. Oriental Art, 680 Madison Avenue, New York] Massive jade mountain carved out of a celedon colored stone with russet markings, and contoured to make full use of the form of the large boulder. The back is carved with two magpies perched on branches of a blooming prunus tree, and is inscribed with a poem by the Emperor Chien Lung, 1736-1795 A. D....It is our feeling however, that the carving, and the type of stone, and how it was used, may possibly indicate an earlier date for the carving of this mountain, as it is well known that the Emperor Chien Lung was fond of composing his own poetry for inscription onto antiques in his personal collection. This mountain is 9¾ inches high, and 9½ inches long.

[Miodrag Boskovitch, 5 Avenue Louise/13-15 rue Ravenstein, Brussels] Bonaventure Peeters, Antwerp 1614 - Hoboken 1652. The Estuary. Wood, 17½ × 29½ ins., signed and dated 1650. A Master at twenty, this prolific artist was the best Mannerist painter of the Flemish school. In all his interpretations he knew how to convey a real poetical intensity. In this one, a battleship flying the Dutch flag has dropped anchor in front of the bastion defending the access to the harbour. In the foreground, a launch is nearing the shore to load the bales brought by Eastern merchants. To a refined sense of harmony in the colours is added a rigorous technique, perceptible in the precision of the detail.
