Loosely translated-'My name is Lawrence, I serve you for love' presuming that CF are the founder's initials. The hinged lid is lacking. This would appear to be the only third British inscribed ewer so far recorded, the other two being at the British Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum. Patination extremely good. Height: 10 inches, Formerly at Bannockburn House.
