[Ader & Picard, 12 rue Favart, Paris] Cotelle Views (from a series of 12) of the gardens of Versailles. Gouache, 17 ⅞ × 14 ⅛ in. each. For the Gallery of the Grand Trianon, Louis XIV had commissioned 21 paintings by Cotelle intended to represent the most interesting and picturesque aspects of the gardens of Versailles. Before painting them, Cotelle made 20 gouache models. For these, and the paintings completed in 1690, he was given 13,600 livres in payment. The paintings are still in situ. As for the gouaches, according to an inventory drawn up in 1733, they remained in the Royal Collection. Today, 14 are known to exist: 2 in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris, and 12 in the Heine collection to be sold on March 22nd.

[San Marco S.A.S., 14 via Belle Donne, Florence] A small tray-table japanned in white with floral decoration on a light blue ground and gilt embellishment. Piedmont, middle of the 18th century. Similar examples were exhibited in Turin in 1963 (catalogue of the Mostra Del Barocco Piemontese). To the right a Lombard-Venetian walnut chair (one of fourteen) of the same period. The Chinese Papier-Peint forms part of an extensive Ch'ien-Lung series dating from the late 18th century.
