In this one, a battleship flying the Dutch flag has dropped anchor in front of the bastion defending the access to the harbour. In the foreground, a launch is nearing the shore to load the bales brought by Eastern merchants. To a refined sense of harmony in the colours is added a rigorous technique, perceptible in the precision of the detail.

The chandelier of old Irish cut glass, c. 1770, is only 2 feet high; it is of beautiful quality and brilliant dark metal, there being no modern replacements whatever. The bureau is of walnut, period George I, and measures 18 inches across, 29½ inches high, 14 inches deep. The mounts are modern, otherwise it is in original condition excepting minor repairs to the veneers.
